Anna T. Weslin, RN, MSN, CNS, BA. Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Consultant, Dance Medicine Specialist
Ms. Weslin has been in the dance field for 39 years and a dance educator for 35 years. Ms. Weslin’s artistic background experience includes musical theatre performances as a singer & dancer in productions of Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver, Hello Dolly, Sound of Music and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. She has also performed as a soloist with Fountain Valley Dance Theatre’s “The Company”– Petroushka, Spring Concert, Nutcracker, Swan Lake.
In education, Ms. Weslin holds a Master’s of Science in Nursing degree, Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts degree and is registered in the State of Colorado as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Preventative Medicine. Ms. Weslin is also a Dance Medicine Specialist in health promotion, injury prevention and rehabilitation for performing dance artists. As a dance instructor, Ms. Weslin specializes in ballet technique and choreographic precision. Ms. Weslin was the founder & president of La Santé et la Danse, Inc., the 1st nursing based dance medicine clinic in the State of Colorado, which provided nursing based healthcare, education and technique for the performing dance arts for 7 years . She has received recognition in the Marquis Who’s Who of American Women, Manchester “Who’s Who Among Executives and Professionals”, and was listed in the 2005 “Best of the Springs” in Colorado Springs, CO. Publications include; "Advance Practice Nursing in Performing Arts Health Care." Journal of Holistic Nursing, June 2010 Ms. Weslin has been the Chairman of the Colorado Committee of the Cecchetti Council of America since 2002. She is also a member of numerous other professional organizations: American Nurses Association (ANA), Sigma Theta Tau International (Honor Society of Nursing), Cecchetti Council of America (CCA), International Association for Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS), & Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA). Ms. Weslin has given numerous presentations and lectures in the nursing and dance communities, at national conferences, universities, & in the health field.
Currently, Ms. Weslin has opened a dance school within the Meadow Park Community Center & will be developing an outreach program within the community center. This program is being designed to provide dance healthcare services, dance classes and education to the dance community and general population with the primary goal of reaching out to the community. Outreach goals are torovide dance experiences to those who would normally not be able to dance or to attend professional dance performances due to financial need, physical disability or other barriers. Fundraising dance events, performed by La Danse Classique students, as well as other students from local dance schools, would help provide financial assistance for student & professional dancers who would not be able to experience dance or would not seek medical care due to financial difficulties. Fostering collaboration between the performing arts & sports venues (i.e. martial arts, skaters, gymnast) will provide education for community awareness in the arts, athletics, & healthcare.
