Along with displaying her luscious and colorful handwoven scarves at Cottonwood on Tejon at 214 1/2 N Tejon in downtown Colorado Springs, Maryse Levenson has introduced Colorado Springs to a beautiful and rare art form, Kumihimo. In the late 70’s a friend introduced her to weaving. It quickly became a passion until her first experience with Kumihimo, a Japanese form of braidmaking. In Kyoto, Japan she took classes at the Adachi School of Kumihimo in 1988. Now she produces fine quality work in both disciplines. Maryse participates in the Pikes Peak Studio Tour and is a member of many Colorado Weaving Guilds, the Handweavers Guild of America and Complex Weavers. She is also a member of the English Braid Society and the Melbourne, Australia, Kumihimo Group. She conducts Kumihimo workshops and seminars and has participated in numerous juried exhibits throughout the US and abroad.
