I refer to myself as an enthusiast of the Didgeridoo. I handcraft them from local timber, teach and play. My shop is located on the westside and the timber I use in construction comes from anywhere from Divide to Blackforest. The word ‘chrysalis’ refers to the capsule or cocoon caterpillars emerge from as butterflies. I’ve named my Aspen didgeridoo series this to represent the metamorphosis from tree to musical instrument. An aspen, dead-standing and grey, can be viewed as if in a dormant stage between a healthy, living plant and a vibrant and warm work of art, much like a humble caterpillar waiting to emerge as a colorful butterfly.
