11th Annual Garden of the Gods Rock Ledge Ranch PowWow
The powwow is a celebration of Native American cultures and traditions, with dance, song, food, vendors, and entertainers.
Everyone is welcome to the 11th Annual Garden of the Gods Rock Ledge Ranch PowWow!
Come early and shop the vendor booths and enjoy an Indian taco and other Native foods! Storyteller Sebrena Forrest, Mohawk, will entertain the crowd at 11 a.m. and the Seven Falls Indian Dancers will perform exhibition dances at 11:30 a.m. The Grand Entry of dancers will begin at noon with the Indigenous Veterans of Colorado leading the procession. The powwow will feature many types of special contests and events. The host southern drum, Pumpkin Vine, of Tucson, AZ and the host northern drum, White River Crossing, of Pine Ridge, SD will sing traditional and contemporary songs from the Pawnee and Lakota.
The master of ceremonies, Phil Gover, Choctaw/Pawnee, will keep the audience informed while the arena directors, Charlie Blueback, Ponca/Shoshone-Bannock, and Casmali Lopez, Chumash, will keep charge of the dance arena. Head dancers Sasha Strong and Steven Howell will be the first dancers in the arena. During intertribal songs, the audience will be invited to participate.
There will be limited bleacher seating. We recommend bringing your own chairs and shade.
