Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center and Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site will host the 2015 Garden of the Gods Earth Day Celebration, Saturday, April 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 2015 Earth Day celebration – is free for attendees – and will promote grassroots community action in protecting the environment through cleanup efforts at Garden of the Gods Park. Participants should park at Rock Ledge Ranch and take the free shuttle to the Visitor Center for the day’s festivities. The shuttle will run every fifteen minutes from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Registration for cleanup volunteers begins at 8:30am at the Visitor Center. All volunteers receive a free lunch.
Some highlights of the event include:
- Free admission to Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site with the blacksmith shop and historic homes open, and Volksmarch by the Falcon Wanderers
- Air Force Academy Falconer’s (Live Falcons)
- Chemical Magic Show
- American Indian Dancers
- Live animals and presentations from Nature’s Educators, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and llamas from Touch the Earth
- Peterson Air Force Base Fire Department Smoke House Education Mobile
- Front Range Climbing CO educational demonstration
- Adventures Out West Segway demonstration
Nature walks, wildlife touch tables, arts and crafts and educational exhibits by the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreational and Cultural Services Department, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Friends of Garden of the Gods, and the Garden of the Gods Foundation.
This fun, free, family event focuses on inspiring and educating youth and the community to take care of our natural treasures, live green and protect our environment through green thinking and living.
