Step back in time this summer as a Junior Docent at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site! Junior docents wear period clothing, demonstrate historic chores, games, and crafts, and interpret the unique history of the Pikes Peak region to visitors from around the world!
Participation in the Junior Docent program is selective and dependent on several factors, including: age (must be between ten and seventeen), interest, availability, maturity, and interview.

- 1775-1835 American Indian Interpretive Area
- 1860’s Homestead
- 1880’s Rock Ledge House
- 1880’s Farm and Garden
- 1907 Orchard House (Ages 13 to 17)
Applications are open until Thursday, March 1 or until full.
Days/Time Commitment: Two half days per week from Wednesday through Saturday, either 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 1:15 to 5 p.m. during a five-week session:
- Session I: June 6 to July 7
- Session II: July 11 to August 11
Junior Docents, along with their parent/guardian, must also volunteer for at least two:
- Family Fourth (Wednesday, July 4)
- Harvest Festival (Saturday, October 6)
- One other Ranch special event throughout the year
Interviews: Saturday, March 10. Interviews will take place at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site. Registration information will be sent upon receipt of application. Registration for program application is required to register for the interview.
Orientation: Saturday, April 7 from either 10 a.n. to 12 p.m. or 2 to 4 p.m.. Registration and parent or guardian is required to attend with Junior Docent.
Site Specific Training Required:
- Session I: June 5, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Session II: July 10, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
*If scheduled for Session II, Session I training is optional to participate as a substitute throughout the program
