In addition to Cool Science Carnival Day the CSCSF features 9 days of exciting, educational and engaging special events designed to showcase STEAM where it’s taking place in Colorado Springs and around the Pikes Peak Region.
Enjoy two exciting events in the newly renovated US Air Force Academy Planetarium dome: the inspiring film “Dream Big: Engineering Our World”; and a Night Sky Safari of planets, constellations and other astronomical objects in the autumn sky.
Learn about the role Colorado Springs played in 19th century scientific advances from local author Steve Ruskin, or how different hop varieties give beers their unique textures at Bristol Brewing Company (and taste it for yourself).
Watch real fire-fighters training at the CSFD’s high-tech fire tower. Tour Colorado Springs Utilities’ Bailey Water Treatment Plant or sample the naturally filtered water from the many artesian mineral springs which have made Manitou Springs famous.
If you like to cook, sign up for a Science of Cooking Class and discover the effect that water, heat and altitude have on the ingredients in foods as a master chef shares tricks and recipes to create tasty dishes.
Embark on an Underground Adventure at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park (for a special festival price of only $7 per person). See what happens behind the scenes and watch a live broadcast inside the FOX21 news studio.
Learn about real forensic science in the El Paso County Coroner’s Crime Lab. Kids of all ages will have a blast watching our Cool Science Chemistry Magic show, or making their own Dippin’ Dots with liquid nitrogen, and even the littlest of science fans can enjoy story-time with a real rocket scientist.
