3 Movements: Part One - Hand Holding
3 Movements is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary, multi-sensory three part installation & performance that takes place over the course of three evenings at three different exhibiting spaces in Colorado Springs. The installations & performances will be open and encourage all participants to engage directly with the sites, sounds, and interactions taking place inside the temporary installation structures.
Each site is modified to focus on and isolate specific modes of Interaction that are common place in everyday encounters while in public space. Whether these interactions are personally experienced or passively observed, the work tries to re-contextualize the notions of private and public spaces along with embracing the fluidity of hyper-personal and shared encounters with other people.
In this controlled state of interaction, the performer (JD Sell) takes the role of a medium or transmitter while in this vacuum of sorts, to encourage participants to transcend the ordinary acts of touching a hand or brushing a shoulder and begin to question the different states of physical contact experienced in a day.
3 Movements is comprised of a collaboration between JD Sell: installation artist and lead performer/activator, Kate Perdoni, Mitchell Macura and Alex Koshack: soundscape designers and performers, and Alix Garcia, Su Kaiden Cho and Aaron Graves: moving-suit designers.
Each installation is free to the public for entry. There will be an asking donation at the door to help support all collaborators of this project.
