'7 Last Words of Christ' by Franz Joseph Haydn

The Church of Saint Michael the Archangel presents a special concert of music for string quartet. “The Seven Last Words of Christ,” by Joseph Haydn, in its original instrumental version from 1787, will be performed by the string quartet of the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony.

This challenging piece of string music powerfully expresses a renowned though brief historical liturgical text. The performance features local young string players, Leon Baker III, Audrey Houser, Aaron Gerlach, and Haley Currin. This will be a Lenten evening of meaning and meditation through music, different from any of our previous concerts.
