Jamie began collecting dirt and rocks of all kinds and colors in summer of 2015. Using the soils first in her clay work as glazes, like indigenous people of the west, she soon began finding ways to use these beautiful colors and textures in her paintings as well.
“After much research and exploration, I found an ideal way to mix this magical medium with an acrylic binder and create lush, tactile paintings that engage the viewer and give them a feeling of being part of the landscape.”
Each of her dirt works reflecting the wonderful browns, yellows and oranges of southern Colorado; Yellow Ocher’s, Pinks and Purples of the plains; magnificent browns of New Mexico, exquisite reds of Arizona and now also soils collected from all over the world.
Jamie currently lives in Pueblo, Colorado and is a sculptor, earth painter, speaker, teacher, mother, student, writer, and lover of life. Using clay and dirt she creates sculptures, and paintings that are meditational, organic and functional, while sharing her love with everyone.
“My artwork represents the coming together of earth and man. It shows the bond between that which is permanent , and all that is temporary”.
The artists’ works have been shown and sold in several galleries in Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Tennessee. Jamie continues to fervently pursue her passions as an artist and an inspiration to all who cross her path.
“Truly, the world is my canvas.”
