A Patriotic Celebration Concert

First United Methodist Church presents a Patriotic Celebration Concert to pay tribute to all branches of the United States military; to honor military personnel – both active and retired who serve and have served our nation with distinction.

The First United Methodist Chancel Choir and Orchestra, conducted by James Steven Harter, will perform “red-white-and blue” marches and choral music beloved by all.

The featured work on the program will be The Testament of Freedom by American composer, Randall Thompson. Using choir, orchestra and honored Guest Narrator, Brigadier General Robert F. Titus (Ret.).

The Testament of Freedom is a setting of four excerpts from the writings of Thomas Jefferson chosen specifically by the composer. General Titus, a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam, served with the 82^nd Airborne Division and was commissioned as a fighter pilot in 1949.

He retired from the Air Force in 1977 as Inspector General of NORAD.
