This symphony orchestra concert features Ravel’s tour de force “Daphnis and Chloe,” a masterpiece of passionate technique and lush harmonies, as well as works by the French composers Debussy and Saint Saens.
Originally composed as a ballet based on an ancient Greek tale of romance, piracy, and the supernatural, "Daphnis and Chloie" was later reworked into orchestral suites by the composer, the second of which is included in the program. The orchestra will also perform the monumental Organ Symphony by Saint Saens, as well as the beautiful and haunting "Rhapsody for Clarinet" by Debussy.
