Birney Birthday Bash

One hundred years ago this month, four Birney streetcars were completed and delivered to the Ft. Collins Municipal Railway (FCMRwy). One of those cars was our museum’s very own Birney No. 135.

This streetcar is historically significant as it was the last Birney to run in revenue in North America; on June 30, 1951.

Over the years, our museum volunteers have worked hundreds of hours to extensively restore this beauty.

On May 25, 2019, we are celebrating this streetcar’s 100th birthday. This will be quite a bash with trolley rides, exhibits, special events, and tours for everyone from history buffs to curious kiddos.

And we haven’t forgotten the birthday cake! Our museum is housed in the historic Roswell Roundhouse where you can still see the soot from the mighty steam locomotives lingering on our high ceilings in the Restoration Barn.
