Borscht Belted

From screaming, maniacal chefs and the Master of Simon Sez to the Kings and Queens of Stand-up, Borsht Belted conjures the sights, smells, and snickers in a place that still resonates in our collective funny bone.

Warren Epstein, the creator, and star of Borscht Belted, channels Rodney Dangerfield, Woody Allen, Jack Benny, and other humor pioneers as he recreates his childhood memories from the famous Catskill resort area in New York.

His poignant recreation of Jimmy Grecco “King of the Catskills” gives us a memorable portrait of a great comic and the incredible era of American Comedy that produced him.

Warren Epstein has been a regular at the MAT for more than a decade, acting, directing and writing for a variety of productions.

He has been involved in ‘Cabaret Voltaire’, ‘The Six Women Playwright Festival’, ’10 Minutes Max,’ and ‘Four Play’. He also has performed, directed and/or written for Springs Ensemble Theatre, Craft Production Resources, Smokebrush Theatre, and Thespiana.
