Botanical Expressions—Artworks by Kathleen Krucoff and Jo Gaston

Kathleen Krucoff and Jo Gaston work in vastly different media—Kathleen is a jeweler and metal smith and Jo is a watercolorist. Together they have collaborated on subject matter to make “Botanical Expressions” about the trees, plants, and flowers that inspire them. Both artists live in the Black Forest area and work out of home-based studios.

“Botanical Expressions” will feature some of Kathleen Krucoff’s recent works, made especially for this exhibit. Her focus for this event has been to develop many forms of art jewelry, such as rings, pendants, earrings and cuffs that showcase what can be done with the ancient art of Chasing and Repoussé. A few of her chosen subjects are acorns with oak leaves, cherry blossoms, gingko and aspen leaves.

Jo Gaston grew up on a farm in southwest Missouri and some of her earliest memories are of vegetable and flower gardens. Jo creates watercolors of the ranch and garden subjects she has known since childhood. The realistic details of her paintings make her subjects easily recognizable as she uses light and color freely to intensify her impressions of the abstract forms inherent in those subjects.
