Call for Artists: 'Cinderella'

The Sunrise Players of Sunrise Church will hold auditions for their upcoming production of Rogers and Hammerstein’s musical, “Cinderella.”

Cinderella is the only Rodgers and Hammerstein musical written for television. It was originally broadcast live on CBS on March 31, 1957 as a vehicle for Julie Andrews, who played the title role. The broadcast was viewed by more than 100 million people.

This production will follow the original television version closely.

Hammerstein was interviewed by the Saturday Review about the adaptation: “We want the kids who see it to recognize the story they know. Children can be very critical on that score. But, of course, their parents will be watching too, so we have tried to humanize the characters without altering the familiar plot structure”.
