CALL FOR ARTISTS: Waste Not, Want Not

Up-cycling is not a new concept. In the 1930’s and ‘40’s, an age of thrift, almost everything was reused or re-purposed. Old curtains re-upholstered chairs, wooden doors became tabletops, feed sacks became dresses.

Unlike recycling which takes consumer materials like plastic, paper, metal, or glass and breaks them down to their base materials, up-cycling uses very little energy or resources—just your own hands and imagination.

When you up-cycle an item you aren’t breaking it down to its component parts, you’re refashioning the item to make what’s old, new again, but with a creative twist.

This open call juried show will be accepting applications between July 1 and August 10, 2019.

Waste Not, Want Not will be in our gallery from October 4 though 28 with the First Friday Reception on October 4.
