Carlton Gamer, Professor Emeritus 90th Birthday Celebration Concert

Faculty and guests come together in a special concert celebrating the 90th birthday of Carlton Gamer, composer and CC professor emeritus.

This program, highlighting varied compositions by Gamer that span the decades, includes some works never before performed in public.

The Veronika String Quartet is featured in “Between Heaven and Earth,” and then is joined by faculty winds in “Perpetual Canonic Invention,” “Canonettes,” and “Octet” for string quartet and wind quartet.

Artist-in-residence Susan Grace, KCME’s George Preston, and CC dancers directed by Sue Lauther will perform the “Aria da Capo” for piano solo, narrator and dancers.

Susan Grace and Steven Beck, as the piano duo “Quattro Mani,” conclude the concert with “Generation”  and “Mountains and Skies,”  both originally composed for large orchestra and concert band, respectively, and arranged by Professor Gamer’s friend and former student Mark Arnest.
