February First Friday at Cottonwood Center for the Arts will include the opening of four new art shows and will act as a stop on the Haute Chocolate Hop.
Cottonwood’s latest show, Color Block, is a juried exhibit that tasked artists with the challenge of creating work inspired by Blinky Palermo to celebrate and build on the Abstract Minimalism oeuvre as well as Palermo’s avant garde commentary on modern art.
Also new for February are two solo exhibits from Cottonwood artists Linda Smith and Lisa Noon. Smith’s exhibition, “Kinetic Redemption”, features two and three-dimensional pieces that explore the redemption process. “Chaos Into Order” reflects Noon’s search for peace in a chaotic world through abstract and mixed media pieces. Finally, Cottonwood is honored to exhibit photos from the TEOH Project: 10 Years of Photographs. The TEOH Project (Through the Eyes of Hope) is a grassroots project that provides art classes to youth in Kigali, Rwanda. For the past ten years, children in the TEOH Project have learned how to use cameras and graphic software as well as to paint, draw, and sew.
First Friday (February 2 from 5 to 8 p.m.) Opening: Cottonwood is excited to offer mini cupcakes from the Cupcake Girls as part of the Haute Chocolate Hop, a progressive dessert tasting and art walk at a dozen Downtown venues.
These events made possible by support from Colorado Creative Industries.
