Colorado College Blue Grass Ensemble

Black Rose Acoustic Society Kid’s Open Stage headlined by the Colorado College Blue Grass Ensemble. The ensemble is an instrumental and vocal band that draws mainly from traditional sources including Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Jimmy Martin, and the Stanley Brothers. Membership is by audition only.The ensemble was created by the CC Music Department to provide a challenging and creative environment for students to develop material with the feel and structure of bluegrass music The musicians — four seniors, one junior and a recent grad — learn under the tutelage of the talented Keith Reed, formerly of Open Road .Nicole Pey, a junior,  plays mandolin and sings with the band..In addition to Pey, the group's membership is: Nanette Phillips, a senior, on fiddle and vocals; Emily Guffin, a senior, on banjo; Charlie Shaw, a senior, on guitar and vocals; Chris O'Neil, a senior, on guitar; and Drew Campbell, a recent grad, on bass.
