“Winter Songs and Dances”

Colorado College’s early music ensemble, Collegium Musicum, will join with the CC Chamber Chorus to present a concert of early music on Sunday, December 9 at 3:00 pm.

The Chamber Chorus performs sacred and secular works for a cappella choir from the Renaissance by William Byrd, Orlando Gibbons and others, as well as two contemporary motets by Ola Gjeilo and James MacMillan. The Collegium performs medieval songs, and Renaissance dances by Anthony Holborne with a mixed consort of strings and recorders. Throughout the program the two ensembles combine Spanish carols and a grand finale by Monteverdi, from Scherzi Musicali (1607) about the triumph of love, beauty
