The 2017 Colorado Springs Art and Music Festival is back at America The Beautiful Park July 1-2 with an Independence Day weekend showcase of fine arts, live music performances kids activities and delicious foods.

The Wounded Warrior Band performs their Motown Rock and Soul Revue, the next generation of hybrid live performance. Pristine sound quality and a mix of the digital sound revolution is crossbred with the energy of stellar musicians tearin’ it up on stage. Paula Compton’s soulful vocals reminiscent of Janis Joplin, combined with Jac Mihanovic’s bass and keyboard synthesizer prowess, gives a 20-piece band feel. Mihanovic’s recording and performance credits include Ray Charles, Steve Vai, Little Richard, Taj Mahal, Robert Fripp, and Tower of Power just to name a few. Their fans say it all the time: “That’s the music I grew up on. Those songs make me want to get up and dance!” The Wounded Warrior Music Progam hit CD “Booths On The Ground” is #1 on iTunes and Amazon.

Milo Hayes Blend with Charlie Milo and Bruce Hayes performs a funk, jazz, blue grass and R&B throw down. The 4th of July music celebration continues with local Colorado Springs music by John Stone’s Flyin’ Libre band, Clyde Tullis Blues, and Doc & Kit Americana Sound. Denver’s Celtic/Experimental Ponder The Albatross, Band On The Fence, and dark side folk ballads by Scarecrow Revival all bring on the music for this special festival weekend.

Music performance times are posted on the festival website.

There is free seating and dancing on the lawn, and guests can bring lawn chairs, small lawn tents (under 36″), coolers and leashed pets to enjoy the show (city park rules apply).

Browse the park lawns with rows of booths filled with juried art for sale by national and local fine artists. On display are distinctive jewelry designs, painting and mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, photography, wood, leather, hand crafted furniture, and wearable art – an amazing smorgasbord of fine art. Talk with the artists about their process and inspiration and enjoy several tiers of pricing. Have fun looking for just the right art work to go home with.

Spend some time in the free admission Creation Station For All Ages to explore creativity with staff guided or free form art projects. There’s something for everyone and for a small fee, the fantastic face painter creates imaginative art on festival faces. An amazing aerialist performs and inspires viewers to “fly the silks.” Kids play at the base of the 65’ Julia Penrose water sculpture fountain. Make room for some delicious food from the vendors, and Kona Ice and a fresh squeeze lemonade takes the July heat off.

Rain or shine show – don’t miss the fun!
