Countdown to Apollo: Manifest Greatness

It was a year of tumult, horror and heartbreak.

With ongoing battles in Southeast Asia, the tragic deaths of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert Kennedy, and riots and protests throughout the country, the year 1968 challenged the American fabric like few others before it.

But in the end, it was heroism, hope, and humanity that captured the nation’s and world’s attention as three people broke orbit from Earth to go where no other living creature had gone before.
