In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 8’s pioneering lunar adventure, the Space Foundation invites you to join us to remember, reflect, and reignite the spirit and inspiration of a journey that united the world in wonder and awe.
It was a year of tumult, horror and heartbreak.
With ongoing battles in Southeast Asia, the tragic deaths of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert Kennedy, and riots and protests throughout the country, the year 1968 challenged the American fabric like few others before it.
But in the end, it was heroism, hope, and humanity that captured the nation's and world's attention as three people broke orbit from Earth to go where no other living creature had gone before.
