'Out of the Darkness: The World of Zoe Stiler'

Zoe Stiler is a New Mexico artist who was blind with cataracts from birth until the age of 6. Her paintings and large illuminated lanterns create a dreamlike world inhabited with imagery that attempts to make peace with the darkness by infusing it with light.

Zoe Stiler, an artist who was blind with cataracts from birth until the age of 6, creates paintings and large illuminated lanterns hung from the ceiling to convey a dreamlike sense of light and dark.

At age 6, she underwent a series of operations that began her journey toward becoming a sighted person. The intensity of these early experiences is what shapes her art today.
