This open mic is a way for the community to use the power of our voices to speak out against sexual assault and support those who are survivors.
There will be a list at the event for those interested to sign up to perform. You may also respond in the comments if you would like to read.
The Open Mic is hosted by Ashley Cornelius
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. April 24 is the 2019 Denim Day, the campaign was originally triggered by a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped her rapist remove her jeans, thereby implying consent.
The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. This campaign has been going strong for 20 years. For more information visit http://denimdayinfo.org
