Smokebrush Foundation for the Arts is delighted to welcome Robyn Sean Peterson, collage artist extraordinaire to the Red Crags’ Arts & Agriculture House as the current Artist-In-Residence! Robyn is a uniquely talented collage artist who draws inspiration from shamanic/archetypal imagery.
Come and speak with Robyn, explore the nature of creativity, and practice drawing inspiration from your deeper inner selves! You are invited to come to any or all of the following evenings:
Art as a Shamanic Path on Thursday, March 8 at 7 p.m. (donations accepted): This presentation is meant as a dialogue between the artist and the participants. Offered in a spirit of mutual respect and reciprocity to both professional and non-professional artists, spiritual practitioners, art lovers and anyone who wishes to understand and enhance their own creative life. Learn the essential archetype of the artist as a seer and healer, a shaman. Understand that the wounds that bestow creative vision are powerful and have influeced art from the cave art of Lascaux to Burning Man. Gain knowledge of the ways we see this path and why we need shamanic artists now more than ever.
The Cycles of Creative Life: Death, Decay, Dreaming, and Darkness on Thursday, March 29 at 7 p.m. (donations accepted): This presentation is meant as a dialogue between the artist and the participants. Offered in a spirit of mutual respect and reciprocity to both professional and non-professional artists, spiritual practitioners, art lovers and anyone who wishes to understand and enhance their own creative life. Where did the magic go? Where is the plunge into darkness and self-doubt and how is the place where death abides also where diamonds lie hidden? Take a look at the metaphor of when fishermen cannot go to sea and learn practices and tools for “soul survival”. Transformation is the only option in many cases; learn about this and gain an understanding of the relationship between astrological movements and creativity.
Creativity in Action: An Experiential Workshop on Thursday, April 26 at 7 p.m. ($15 per person): Put the principles and ideas discussed in the previous two sessions into practice! Experience diving deep into your inner space for inspiration and produce a work of art uniquely yours!
