Geaux Gumbo Cooking Class
Join Dave and learn how to make last years Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo Cookoff Award Winning Chicken and Sausage Gumbo!
It’s February, it’s Mardi Gras month, and nothing screams Cajun Cooking louder that a piping hot bowl of GUMBO! It also means that it is time for a very special free & live virtual event at Gather via Zoom!
If you are as bummed as we are that the Mumbo Jumbo Gumbo Cook-off in Manitou Springs is cancelled this year, do we have news for you! Until the Cook-off comes back next year, we wanted to keep the Gumbo Spirit alive by alive by live streaming a free class on our First Place Award Winning Gumbo from last year, slightly modified for the ease of making at home! Watch or Cook Along with Dave in real-time and ask as many questions as you can think up!
In this 1 ½ (approx.) live, online class, Dave is going to talk about all things gumbo: the history, tips and tricks, why the order of adding ingredients is important, and if that’s not enough, he is going to make his Award Winning Gumbo from the cookoff last year, modified to make at home, without sacrificing any flavor!
And then… we’re making cornbread. Gather Cornbread. If you were at the cookoff last year you’ll remember and if you weren’t, you’re definitely not going to want to miss this recipe!
Dave will also be recording a video on how to make an easy dark Cajun roux in 1 hour. That video will be posted here and also sent out to everyone that registers for this event, Tuesday, February 16th– along with the Gumbo recipe, and equipment/prep and shopping list for anyone that would like to cook along, or make at a later time!
