Gold Camp Christmas

Escape from the modern distractions, and celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas in Cripple Creek and Victor.

Holiday activities will kick off with the nightly Gold Camp Christmas Holiday Headframe Lighting throughout Cripple Creek and Victor  and a Winter Wonderland every weekend at the Cripple Creek District Museum.    Experience the lights in the Gold Camp by taking a drive (with your favorite Christmas tunes playing) on a self-guided tour through our area as our mine headframes are decorated with large Christmas light displays.  Would you prefer a guided tour?  Then be sure to check out the detailed schedule of events for the time and date for the guided tour over the main event weekend.

While activities will be happening all month long, our main event weekend is packed full of fun activities that are too good to miss!  Stop by the Christmas Craft Fair where you can find items made by local crafters and win prizes! Decorated Christmas trees, available for purchase through the Live Tree Auction, will be on display for your enjoyment and holiday decorating inspiration.  Don’t miss our Christmas Parade with appearances from Santa, as well as several parade participants that will be showing off their interpretation of this year’s theme.  Festive activities for children include gift making, crafts, a scavenger hunt, skating around the Christmas Tree, gingerbread ornament decorating, and numerous opportunities to whisper Christmas wishes in Santa’s ear! And, of course, no Christmas would be complete without s’mores and marshmallows roasting on an open fire, and free hot chocolate and cider to warm your hands and soul.

For a real treat, join us for the Colorado Springs Chorale holiday performance held at the Cripple Creek Baptist Church. Additional entertainment includes musical groups performing special holiday favorites, and the popular holiday show performed at the Butte Theater.

Looking for more information on the Lighted Mine Headframe (Guided) Tour? Here’s the scoop: a shuttle will be leaving the Aspen Mine Center (located in Cripple Creek) at 5:30 p.m., will tour through the lighted headframes, and will arrive in Victor for the Victor Parade of Lights and the Victor Gold Bowl. The Parade of Lights, a bonfire, caroling, and festive activities will kick off Victor’s evening festivities. Those interested in taking this tour may either take the shuttle from Cripple Creek at 5:30 p.m., or may go directly to Victor via their own transportation. Reservations are not being accepted, so please plan on arriving early to ensure you have a seat!
