This heart-warming play tells the story of an orphaned 5-year-old girl, named Heidi, who is sent to live in the Alps with her reclusive grandfather.
Heidi befriends Peter, the goat herder, his mother and many other inhabitants of the nearby village. She is later sent to be a companion to Clara, a wealthy girl who is in a wheelchair. Heidi soon becomes homesick and wants to return to the village with her grandfather, Peter and the other villagers.
Clara visits Heidi and eventually becomes strong enough to walk. Heidi helps her grandfather rediscover his faith and go to church.
Heidi is played by Lily Murray, a fifth-grade student who was in the Academy of Children’s Theatre production of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” this past spring.
Peter is played by Josh Curtiss, a fifth-grade student of Higgins at The Classical Academy’s East campus. The grandfather is played by veteran local actor Ray Brown, who portrayed the baron in the Colorado Ballet Society’s production of “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” last summer with Annaliese Higgins and her mother, Paula.
Tammy Gant, who played Sister Mary Lazarus in First Company production of “Sister Act” last spring is stage manager for “Heidi.” Higgins last appeared in the First Company production of “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and has appeared in many local productions, including the award-winning 2016 production of “Pride and Prejudice” by Tin Roof Productions.
Lily, Josh and Brown are all appearing in their initial First Company production.
