Jory and Kooper have been playing musical instruments since they were two years old. Jory started out on violin, and has since learned the mandolin, guitar, uke, upright bass, cello and toaster. Kooper has grown up wanting to play everything his big brother does, so he also started on violin, and has since picked up the mandolin, guitar, banjo, viola and nose whistle. They both enjoy Celtic, Bluegrass, Classical and Old Tyme Gospel music and are members of the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony and Black Rose Acoustic Society. When not performing or practicing music, they participate in basketball, Royal Rangers, 4H, and ride dirt bikes. Dad Kerry plays the banjo and string bass with the ensemble.
Jorrin Powell has been playing violin with the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony Association for the past four years, and prior to that with the Albuquerque Youth Symphony. She has also performed in various quartets and duets. She enjoys fiddling on her violin, a 100-year old antique handed down from her grandmother. She loves the variety and creative outlet that fiddling provides for her as a violinist, as well as the opportunity to sing, which she also loves to do. Jorrin has been playing since she was nine years old, and has studied both the Suzuki method as well as the traditional Russian method. She recently graduated from Powell Academy as a home-schooled student, and has taken college courses through Oral Roberts University online and Pikes Peak Community College. She plans to attend Colorado Christian University and major in Music Education, so that she may pass on her love for both the violin and stage performance to the next generation of musicians.
