In this illustrated lecture, MacArthur Prize-winning writer and photographer Maria Varela enriches the narrative of the Civil Rights struggle with images of indigenous movement leaders memorialized by the young photographers of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. Varela, for many years a voice in the Colorado College community as a visiting professor, returns to campus to share her account of the end of American apartheid.
