This class is for mothers who desire to create without leaving children behind (or want to create and have no childcare). Mothers – past, present, and future – are invited to attend with children in tow to explore creating in the midst of motherhood.

Co-teachers Angi Samora and Susan Jacobsen will provide instruction in the art of expressive journaling and storytelling. Students will explore mixed genre storytelling and visual journaling, using both written word (personal narrative, and/or poetry) and visual art (various media) to produce a small “visual-narrative-memoir” by the end of class.
The process-driven course will produce a final “book” that tells a story unique in content and appearance for each student. “Children in tow” can expect to be welcomed as an extension of mom/primary caregiver; limited entertainment and supervision will be available, but a primary innovation of this exciting new approach to mom/child education is that moms are welcome to create wholeheartedly in a space that is accepting, supportive, and understanding of the unique challenges that mothering while creating presents.
Materials
A mixed media/multi media pad and Pitt pen(s) (or regular pen and pencils). Watercolors optional. The flexibility of additional supplies will be discussed at the first class.
