First Christian Church is presenting their annual Messiah sing-along led by the Chamber Singers from the Colorado Springs Chorale, directed by Kimberley Schultz and accompanied by strings, trumpet, organ and harpsichord. The program will include numbers from all three sections of the Messiah, including recitatives, arias and major choruses. There will be a limited number of scores available, so bring your score if you have one. Come and begin the Advent season by singing this glorious music by Georg Frederic Händel, or just enjoy being surrounded by those singing. A free will offering will be taken. Check out http://www.firstchristiancos.org/music/fcc-concert-series for a list of the selections to be included on the program.
The Chamber Singers of the Colorado Springs Chorale is a 24-member ensemble, currently in their fifth season. Composed of auditioned singers from within the larger Chorale’s membership, the Chamber Singers support education and community outreach, encouraging young people to pursue their singing interests beyond high school and college, and to recruit new singers for the Chorale. The ensemble performs choral literature from across the centuries. Each year, they perform a major concert in the fall, host a Messiah sing-along at First Christian Church at the beginning of Advent, and join forces with local high school and college choirs to perform a major choral work with orchestra in the spring. See http://www.cschorale.org/#!about2/c23mq for more information on the ensemble.
