Monsters of Mock 2014: The Chain and The Wild Ones, Forever at McCabe's
Monsters of Mock proudly presents its 2014 lineup– The Chain, a tribute band to Fleetwood Mac, and The Wild Ones, Forever, a tribute band to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Since 2008 (by some accounts), local musicians have formed new configurations to pay loving, accurate homage to their favorite bands. This year’s lineup features concerts at The ModboCo School of Art at Ivywild on Friday the 24th of October (doors at 8 pm, $7), The Triple Nickel on Thursday the 30th of October (doors at 8 pm, price TBD), Jack Quinn’s on Friday the 31st of October (doors at 8 pm, price TBD), and McCabe’s on Saturday, November 15th (doors at 8 pm, $7).
The Chain is comprised of Kellie Palmblad, portraying Stevie Nicks on vocals and guitar, Jeff Fuller, as Lindsay Buckingham on vocals and guitar, Lauren Andrus, vocals and keys as Christine McVie, Aaron Retka as John McVie on bass and vocals, and Kevin Johnson as Mick Fleetwood on drums. Aaron Retka began his musical journey in the Springs as a member of Sacco and Vanzetti in 1999, continuing on to play in The Great Redneck Hope, Lorito Opens his Beak, Foxhole Prayers, and Matterhorn. Kellie Palmblad’s first local band was Depulah Raza in 1998, and she has since played in Eyes Caught Fire, Constellation of Cars, and Waterbear. Jeff Fuller was a founding member of The Zimbricks in 1995, and has also played in Against Tomorrow’s Sky, Lorito Opens His Beak, and the award winning El Toro De La Muerte. Kevin Johnson played in The Pageant back in 2005, and also played in the Men of Deep Throat. Lauren Andrus began her musical career as a classical pianist, and also plays in Swelter and Burn.
Headed by Monsters of Mock veteran Mike Stephens, The Wild Ones, Forever features Steve Bauer on drums, Alex Kori on bass, Xenos Aragon on guitar, Dylan Teifer on keys, and Firework on vocals and guitar. Together, this ensemble has participated in the following bands over the years: Buck O Nine,
The Nobodys, Drag The River, Salem Spade, Blue Frog, B Positive, The Zimbricks, Girth, The Foxhole Prayers, Loverleigh, Splendid Isolation, Dunce, Against Tomorrow's Sky, The Men Of Deep Throat, Stack O' Dimes, Ashtray Floors, Morning, Savior, Haggle Properly, and Congress Of Louts.
