Pikes Peak Regional Crew Leader Training

Take your trail volunteering to the next level by becoming a certified Volunteer Crew Leader!
The Pikes Peak Regional Crew Leader Training is a certification course designed to give experienced trail volunteers the skills, knowledge, and experience to help lead critical trail and restoration workdays. Each year, thousands of volunteers donate their time to help care for parks, trails, and open spaces in the Pikes Peak Region. This generosity of time and labor is necessary for the upkeep of our local parks, but has also created a need for trained Volunteer Crew Leaders who are able to assist land managers and stewardship organizations in leading these important projects.
The program begins with an intensive weekend-long training where participants will learn how to lead safe, successful trail projects and develop basic trail construction and restoration skills. Following the weekend course, trainees hone their skills by completing certification workdays with Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI) and Friends of the Peak (FOTP). The training is hosted in partnership by RMFI, FOTP, the Trails and Open Space Coalition, and the City of Colorado Springs, Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department.
