Pikes Peak Regional Crew Leader Training

A certification training program designed to equip seasoned trail and restoration volunteers with the skills and opportunities to help lead critical projects in parks and open spaces throughout the region.

Each year, thousands of volunteers donate their time to help care for parks, trails, and open spaces in the Pikes Peak Region.

This generosity of time and labor is necessary for the upkeep of our local parks, but has also created a need for trained volunteer crew leaders who are able to assist organizations such as RMFI and the many local park “Friends Groups” by leading these critical trail and restoration projects.

The Pikes Peak Regional Crew Leader Training is an intensive weekend-long training and subsequent certification process for volunteers who are interested in becoming recognized and active Volunteer Crew Leaders.

While in the training, participants will learn how to lead safe, successful trail projects and develop basic trail construction and restoration skills.

The training is hosted in partnership by Rocky Mountain Field Institute, Trails and Open Space Coalition, Friends of the Peak, and the City of Colorado Springs, Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department.

ADMISSION INFO

There is a non-refundable $25 application fee for this program to help cover costs of materials and food for the weekend training session.

Please note: Application does not guarantee entry into the training. Applicants with prior volunteer trailwork experience and those actively involved with open space stewardship will be given priority spots in the training if space is limited.
