Come out to COPPeR's office during February's First Friday Downtown (and the Olympic Downtown Celebration!) for the opening of The Pikes Peak Weavers Guild Group Exhibition. Meet the artists, enjoy a few snacks, and walk away with a new piece of wearable art!
Featured artists include: Linda G Lugenbill, Dottie Weir, Edna DeVai, Sandra Hutton, Beverly Weaver, Cathy Sterling, Judi Arndt, Mary Madison, Bernadette Marquez, Maryse Levenson, Anne Vickrey Evans, Susan Bowman, Heather Hubbard and Emily Jones.
The Pikes Peak Weavers Guild was established in 1959 by a community of weavers at Colorado Springs, Colorado. Nestled in the shadows of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods, PPWG members are never lacking in inspiration for color, texture, and design. Their monthly programs are open to the public and cover a variety of topics related to weaving, spinning and dyeing. In addition they feature mini-workshops and yearly major workshops with nationally and internationally known teachers. PPWG encourages our friends in the weaving, spinning and dyeing community to enjoy our online newsletter (www.pikespeakweavers.org) Last summer PPWG, Business of Art Center, and Texas Instruments Foundation sponsored an important international show commemorating the devastating fire season of 2012; featuring handwoven, handspun, and hand dyed work by 42 artists from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
