Playing the Dulcimer

The word dulcimeris Graeco-Roman meaning “sweet song,” derived from the Latindulcis(sweet) and the Greekmelos(song). The mountain dulcimer was developed in the Appalachian Moun-tains in the 1700’s. It is tuned in one key and played easily by moving a finger from one fret to another. There are three strings tuned to an open chord, so it is very easy to play and has a very sweet sound, even from a beginner. You can play a song in the first five minutes of the class.
