Race and Dance Panel

Dance happens in the presence of bodies.  Bodies bring identity and difference into play on stage. They make every dance a risk. And a chance.

In this discussion, four choreographers from four universities will come together during the Block 6 Faculty Concert, be another/ a different story, to discuss the intersection of race and dance.

Drawing on their perspective as artists in higher education, these choreographers will consider specific problems and critical concerns that ensue when dancers— consciously or not— contend with racial difference and bias during the creative process, in the rehearsal studio, and in the classroom.
