Run to the Shrine

The annual Run to the Shrine fundraiser is the only day of the year foot traffic is allowed on the breathtaking road to the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun. This year’s race will be held on Saturday, May 19 and all proceeds benefit Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

The 4-mile run/walk course is chip timed, winding through the zoo with giraffes, elephants and a rhino lining the course. It is a great route for competitive athletes, weekend warriors, casual walkers and families of all ages. Jogging strollers with safety equipment are welcome!

Run to the Shrine registration includes Zoo admission for the rest of the day, a commemorative performance T-shirt featuring Chewy the Amur tiger (limited quantities of women’s sizes available so register early) and a post-event party at the Zoo’s Lodge at Moose Lake. All proceeds help feed and care for Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s 750 animals. Since the Zoo does not receive any tax support, community events like Run to the Shrine help keep the zoo “running.”
