Violinist Karine Garibova was born and raised in Moscow and started playing violin at the age six studying with Irina Svetlova, Yelena Mazor and Khalida Akhtyamova. Ms. Garibova earned a DMA in String Quartet performance from the Gnesins’ Russian Academy of Music in Moscow, Russia. Ms. Garibova is a founding member of the Veronika String Quartet, which launched itself onto the international arena early, taking top prizes at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition and Shostakovich International String Quartet Competition among others.
Scott Kluksdahl made his debut with The San Francisco Symphony, and has been heard as chamber musician, recitalist and soloist in the United States, Europe, Israel and Latin America. He has recently joined the award-winning Veronika String Quartet. Scott has received Tanglewood’s Leonard Bernstein Fellowship, prizes in Naumburg and Washington International Competitions, and degrees from Harvard and Juilliard.
The Trio No. 1 in B-flat major for piano, violin, and cello, D. 898, was written by Franz Schubert in 1827. The composer finished the work in 1828, in the last year of his life. It was published in 1836 as Opus 99, eight years after the composer’s death. The Piano Trio No. 1 in B major, Op. 8, by Johannes Brahms was completed in January 1854, when the composer was only twenty years old, published in November 1854 and premiered on 13 October 1855 in Danzig. Joseph Haydn’s Piano Trio No. 39 in G major, Hob. XV/25 was written in 1795. It is perhaps Haydn’s most well-known piano trio and sometimes nicknamed the “Gypsy” or “Gypsy Rondo” trio because of its Rondo finale in ‘Hungarian’ style. It consists of three movements.
