Sheep Shearing

Presented by Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, Colorado Springs CO

Jun 01 2019
Sheep Shearing presented by Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, Colorado Springs CO

Homespun fun at the Ranch!

In the 1880s, El Paso County boasted the largest population of sheep in the state at 120,000 critters.

This produced about 560,000 pounds of fleece!

Watch as the sheep are sheared with traditional and modern equipment and see a demonstration of expert sheep dog handling.

There will also be carding, spinning, dying, and weaving demonstration. Visit the general store to buy gifts made from our very own sheep!
