Southwestern Scenario

This exhibit portrays images of the Southwest as interpreted by an artist who is primarily from the Midwest and has lived here for 12 years. The different techniques embraced in these depictions are either mixed media or acrylic. Most are landscape derivative, architectural derivative or from the Native American spiritual tradition. The mixed media artworks employ patterned paper techniques combined with acrylic brush-work. The color range utilized in these artworks vary from a liberal use of complimentary colors, non-complimentary colors and are fairly delicate in execution. All in all, the viewer sees a melodic and unique rendition of the Southwest by Ivy Cartier, who has recently adopted this area of the country as her home.
