Monday Nights:
Mixed Media Exploration
5:15pm – 7:15pm With Brett Andrus $170 materials included
In the mixed media class, students will explore art creation with a variety of different mediums. Mediums will include watercolor, gouache, printmaking, gold leaf, assemblage, acrylic, and collage. Students will also learn about artists throughout art history who created with these mediums. The intention of this class is to allow students a chance to play and experiment while creating work.
Prerequisite: Drawing 101 is suggested.
Progressive Water Based Media
7:30pm – 9:30pm With Brett Andrus $150
This will not be your “typical” watercolor class. In this 9 week survey class, students will learn that it is okay to break the rules of water based media. Focus will be on watercolor and gouache, utilizing the material for subjects ranging from landscape to the figure. Experiments will be made, fun will be had, rules will be broken, noses will be thumbed in our direction.
Prerequisite: Drawing 101 suggested.
Tuesday Nights:
Drawing 101
5:15pm – 7:15pm With Brett Andrus $150, model fee included
If you have never drawn before, or feel rusty on your drawing skills, this is the class for you! Students will be taught basic sight reading, handling of media, artistic vocabulary, still life and life drawing, and introduction to perspective.
Oil Painting 101
7:30pm – 9:30pm With Brett Andrus $150, model fee included
Have you always been curious about oil painting? This class is definitely for you! Students will be given an introduction to the medium of oil paints, as well as knowledge of how best to utilize it, make it work, etc. Basic color mixing will be covered, as well as still life, life painting, and an introduction to art history.
Prerequisite: No oil painting experience required, but a basic
knowledge of drawing is preferred.
Wednesday Nights:
Drawing 201
5:15pm -7:15pm With Brett Andrus $150, model fee included
Is it time to continue your journey down the path of drawing? Students will gain insight into hand/eye coordination, focusing on different drawing mediums, rendering, expanded principles of perspective and sight reading, and an introduction to color.
Prerequisite: Drawing 101 or similar knowledge in drawing
is highly preferred.
Oil Painting 201
7:30pm – 9:30pm With Brett Andrus $150, model fee included
If you loved your introduction to oil painting and are ready to further your knowledge, we’re ready for you! Students will be introduced to glaze technique and mark-making intention. Additionally, anatomical focus will be honed, you will make progress on a body of work, and art history from the 1840s-1930s will be covered.
Prerequisite: Beginning Oil Painting of some sort is strongly preferred.
Thursday Nights:
Life Drawing 101
5:15pm – 7:15pm With Erin Jones $185, model fee included
Enhance your ability to animate the human form confidently and expressively! The course consists of a thorough mixture of classically driven drawing techniques, balanced by exercises to liberate the intuitive, free-flowing side of drawing. We will deeply investigate the many important landmarks of the skeletal and muscular systems, and we will break down the human figure in countless ways. Expect to refine your artistic observation for the undertaking of any
pose!
Life Painting 101
7:30pm – 9:30pm With Andres Orlowski $185, model fee included
This introductory level course will focus on painting the human figure in oil, both from life and from alternative sources such as photographs. Students will work towards obtaining likenesses, while learning anatomy and technique.
Prerequisite: Some painting experience suggested.
Friday Nights:
Egg Tempera Painting
5:15pm – 7:15pm With Erin Jones $150
Using egg yolk as a vehicle to spread pigment is one of the most ancient and enticing forms of painting, perfect for painters looking for a challenge. In this course, we will make our own paints and unveil the many technical complexities of egg tempera, all while grabbing inspiration from select tempera painters throughout multiple cultures
in the history of art.
Illustrative Painting
7:30pm – 9:30pm With Phil Lear $150
Students will hone a creative voice in their work. With a focus on narrative painting, students will learn the language of visual storytelling by exploring the techniques of contemporary artists and
classic illustrators. Highlights will include dynamic composition, dramatic intent and objective imagery.
Prerequisite: Some experience in oil painting is strongly preferred.
