Strategy Strikes Back: How Star Wars Explains Modern Military Conflict

Manitou resident, Maj. Matt Cavanaugh, will explains how the Star Wars movie franchise has a lot to say about modern warfare in our own time and place.

30+ writers use Star Wars as a vehicle for explaining modern military conflict in order to get citizens and soldiers interested in the ideas and strategies that matter most to our national defense. This matters in a democracy; if we have to fight, as a last resort, we should do it intelligently. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, Max Brooks (World War Z), August Cole (Ghost Fleet), Australian Maj. Gen. Mick Ryan and many other military experts, strategists and sci-fi writers contributed to this book.

Matt Cavanaugh will speak for 30 minutes, then take Q & A. Copies of the book will be available for those interested.  Refreshments will be served.
