The Day the Forest Burned

The Palmer Lake Historical Society invites the public as Terry Stokka presents a documentary of the Black Forest fire of 2013.  Terry will discuss the causes that led up to severe fire danger and take you through the days of the fire and the ongoing recovery.  This is a compelling story of heartbreak and survival, as well as a glimpse into the positive spirit of the people of Black Forest who are rebuilding in surprising numbers, considering the devastating damage to their homes and community.

Terry is the Chairman of the Black Forest History Committee.  Because of the historic impact of this event on the residents of Black Forest and the surrounding areas, the Black Forest History Committee had the foresight to document this tragedy for future generations.  This is a cautionary tale for all of us that live in Colorado's woodlands.

This event is free and refreshments will be served after the presentation.
