The eighth annual Touch-A-Truck Weekend will be held on Friday, March 2, to Sunday, March 4, 2018. Touch-A-Truck Weekend is an innovative, fun, and hands-on learning event that serves as a primary fundraising event for the Junior League of Colorado Springs.
Every year, thousands of Coloradans attend this unique event and have the opportunity to experience, see, touch, and even climb on vehicles of all sizes and shapes. There are 50,000 square feet of indoor truck space as well as multiple outdoor lots for vehicles. With the help of sponsors Schmidt Construction and Black Bear Diner, the Junior League is looking forward to hosting up to 5,000 attendees this year.
“We experienced record-breaking attendance last year and we couldn’t be more excited to host this event again,” says event chair Amy Saxby. “We have a lot of new trucks this year including several food trucks and even a ride-on monster truck.”
The Junior League will again hold a sensory-friendly event catering to children with autism spectrum disorders or other quiet-environment needs on Friday evening, from 5 to 7 p.m. The regular event opens Saturday morning at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Funds raised at Touch-A-Truck Weekend will benefit the League’s Fostering Change Initiative — efforts to provide resources to current and former foster youth focused on the risk factors associated with aging out of foster care, such as homelessness, human trafficking, and domestic violence.
