Built in 1910, El Pomar, now known as Penrose House, was originally built as the home of Aston and Grace Goodyear Potter. Julie and Spencer Penrose purchased the estate in 1916, and Mr. Penrose lived there until his death in 1939. Importantly, the Olmstead Brothers of Brookline, Massachusetts, the men responsible for New York's Central Park and the National Park Mall System, designed the courtyards and grounds for Penrose House. Mrs. Penrose remained in the home for a few years after the death
