Pikes Peak Community College is taking a whole week to honor Veterans with a series of events.

Pikes Peak Community College is taking a whole week to honor Veterans with a series of events.

The events include:

  • Wreath Laying Ceremony (November 11; 10:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.): At the Centennial War Memorial, we will reflect upon the contributions that our veterans have made to our country. The ceremony will also be streamed in the atrium at Rampart Range.
  • Veterans Day Reception and Student/Staff Presentations (November 11; 1:30 p.m.): At the Rampart Range Library, PPCC students and staff will share their research and insights on the end of WWII, nearly 75 years later.
  • An Evening with Artist Receptions (November 11; 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.): At the Downtown Studio, they join PPCC’s Expressive Arts Project (EAP) in honoring Veterans Day with a salon style discussion with the artists.
  • Veterans Resource Fair (November 13; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.); At Centennial Grove, the Resource Fair will highlight some of the Pikes Peak region’s resources dedicated to helping introduce our veterans and their families to the variety of services the community has to offer.
  • Reception: Honoring All Who Served (November 14; 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.): At the Centennial Atrium, we’ll have refreshments, awards, and “The Academy Winds,” a six-member woodwinds group who will perform background music.
  • The Coping Collective (October 25 through November 15; All Day): Join us for an exhibit with art as a platform of self-expression and revival at the Downtown Studio Gallery. Find more here:
  • Photo Display (October 21 through November 15; All Day) – Post pictures of family or friends who have served, or currently serving in the Armed Forces at the Centennial Campus Rotunda, Downtown Studio Main Entrance, and the Rampart Range Rotunda.
  • Combat Paper: Combat Paper is an international organization dedicated to transforming memories of war into works of art. It will be at various locations and times throughout PPCC including:
    • November 11: 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Rampart Range Atrium
    • November 13: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Centennial Grove
    • November 14: 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Centennial Grove
    • November 15: 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Centennial Grove
  • Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame Display (November 11 through November 15; All Day): At the Centennial Breezeway, portraits of outstanding women who have shaped our state and made significant contributions to their fields will be on display.
  • Exhibit: Close of Veterans Week Gallery Activities (November 15; 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.): At the Downtown Studio Art Gallery, we will be having a celebration and reception with salon-style discussion, poetry, displays, and artist reflections at 5 p.m. A film screening of “Resilient Heroes” will begin at 7 p.m.
