Witness an historically recreated vintage base ball match as the 1871 Denver Blue Stockings take on the local 1882 Denver & Rio Grande Reds in their home opener!
Turn back the calendar as the 1871 Denver Blue Stockings take on the local 1882 Denver & Rio Grande Reds in a vintage base ball match.
The rules are from 1864, which means no gloves and only wooden bats with a lemon peel style stitched baseball. Fielders are allowed to let the ball bound once and then caught, it is considered an out (hand dead).
The Denver and Rio Grande Reds were sponsored by the narrow gauge railroad and the founder of Colorado Springs, General William Jackson Palmer.
